Simon Gerrans ( born May 16, 1980 in Melbourne) is an Australian racing cyclist.

Career

Gerrans in 2003 was pro. In 2005 he won the Tour du Finistère, a race of the UCI Europe Tour. In the 2005 Tour de France he succeeded on the 17th stage, a third place. In the overall classification, he finished 166th rank. His fourth year as a pro, he started with a victory on the first stage of the Tour Down Under in 2006, when he won the overall rating for themselves. In 2006, he drove very strong even at the Tour de Suisse, as he let Michael Rasmussen on a pass behind him and then stages - fourth. At the 15th stage of the Tour de France in 2008, he sat down in a four- man breakaway group about 180 kilometers at the top, drove through the final climb and won. 2010 and 2011 he drove for the British Sky.

Since 2012, Gerrans moves for Orica Green Edge. He started particularly successful in the 2012 season. After his victories at the Australian road championships and the Tour Down Under, he landed his biggest success at Milan - San Remo, where he defeated Fabian Cancellara and Vincenzo Nibali in the sprint of a group of three and the second Australian after Matthew Goss Primavera could win. At the Tour de France in 2013, he won the third stage in a sprint to the reduced peloton. Then he won the team time trial, which was the 4th stage. Thus he took the yellow jersey, which he wore for two days.

Gerrans is one of the few riders who managed to win all three Grand Tours a stage win and the first driver who has won an Australian team for a Tour de France stage.
