Tarano
Tarano is a municipality with 1422 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Rieti in the Italian region of Lazio.
Geography
Tarano is located 64 km north of Rome and 41 km southwest of Rieti. It is in the Low Sabina, the hills above the valley of the Tiber. The municipal area extends 71-310 m slm
The municipality consists of the districts of San Polo, Baracche di Tarano and Baracche di San Polo.
The municipality is located in the seismic zone 2 (medium endangered).
The neighboring municipalities are Colle Vecchio, FORANO, Montebuono, Selci, Stimigliano and Torri in Sabina.
Traffic
Tarano is located on the strada Statale 657 Sabina (SS 657 ), which runs from Gala Tina (SS 313) to the Tiber bridge Ponte Felice on the Via Flaminia. The nearest motorway exit is Ponzano - Soratte on the A1 Autostrada del Sole.
The nearest train station is in Stimigliano at the regional railway line FR1, 11 kilometers from the town center.
