Pescorocchiano

Pescorocchiano is a municipality with 2172 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Rieti in the Italian region of Lazio.

Geography

Pescorocchiano is 90 km northeast of Rome and 48 km southeast of Rieti. It is located in the upper valley of the Salto, the so-called Cicolano. It is a member of the Comunità Montana Salto Cicolano.

The municipality covers an altitude difference of 535-1624 meters above sea level. The municipality consists of the villages Baccarecce, Castagneta, Civitella di Nesce, Colle di Pace, Girgenti, Granara, Leofreni, Nesce, Pace, Petrignano, Poggio San Giovanni, Roccarandisi, Santa Lucia di Gioverotondo, Sant'Elpidio and Torre di Taglio.

The municipality is located in the seismic zone 1 ( high risk ).

The neighboring municipalities are Borgorose, Carsoli (AQ ), Collalto Sabino, Fiamignano, Marcetelli, Petrella Salto, Sante Marie ( AQ), Tornimparte (AQ ) and Varco Sabino.

Traffic

Pescorocchiano located 16 km away from the motorway exit Valle del Salto on the A24 Autostrada dei Parchi.

The nearest train station is in Carsoli on the railway line Rome - Avezzano, 21 km away.
