Forano
Forano is a town with 2988 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Rieti in the Italian region of Lazio.
Geography
Forano is located 57 km north of Rome, 46 km southwest of Rieti, and 55 km east of Viterbo. It is located in the Sabine mountains above the valley of the Tiber. The municipal area extends from the Tiber to the hills of the Sabina with the highest point with 251 m slm
The municipality is located in the seismic zone 2 (medium endangered).
The municipality consists of the villages Gala Tina, Gavignano, San Pietro and Santa Lucia.
The neighboring municipalities are Cantalupo in Sabina, Filacciano (RM ), Poggio Catino, Poggio Mirteto, Ponzano Romano (RM ), Selci, Stimigliano and Tarano.
Traffic
Forano is located on the strada Statale 657 Sabina (SS 657 ), which runs from Gala Tina (SS 313) to the Tiber bridge Ponte Felice on the Via Flaminia. The nearest motorway exit is Ponzano - Soratte on the A1 Autostrada del Sole.
The municipality has a station on the railway line Florence-Rome in the district Gavignano.

Policy
Paolo Diociaiuti ( civil list) was elected in June 2004 to the mayor and re-elected in 2009.
