Collegiove

Collegiove is a municipality in the province of Rieti in the Italian region Latium, located about 156 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012). It is located 79 km northeast of Rome and 50 km southeast of Rieti.

Geography

Collegiove is above the Lago di Turano and the valley of the Turano. It is below the Monte Carseolani in the Sabine mountains. A large part of the municipal district is a nature reserve Monti Navegna e Cervia. It is a member of the Comunità Montana del Turano.

The nearby towns are Ascrea, Collalto Sabino, Marcetelli, Paganico Sabino, Pozzaglia Sabina and Turania.

History

Maybe the place was founded in antiquity on a temple of Jupiter. From the Middle Ages it belonged to the Principality Collalto and shared his fate.

Policy

Giovanni Pompei ( Bürgerliste Tre spighe ) was elected in June 2009 for the mayor. His predecessor, Pietro Petroni ( Civil List ) ( 2004-2009) did not occur at the election.

Specialty

Collegiove is known for its porcini mushrooms from the surrounding forests.
