Tramin an der Weinstraße

Tramin road (Italian sulla strada del vino Termeno ) is a municipality with 3284 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the south of South Tyrol (Italy).

Famous is the wine village Tramin for the Gewürztraminer grape. It is also known the traditional Egetmann procession, which is conducted on Shrove Tuesday in odd-numbered years. Situated on the South Tyrolean Wine Road Tramin is a popular resort, especially for visitors from German-speaking countries because of its historic village core of viticulture, close to Lake Kaltern and the weekly wine festivals in the summer and autumn.

Geography

The community Tramin, a total of 18.61 km ², is located in the country, a section of the Adige Valley in South Tyrol, on the orographic right (west ) side of the valley. North of Tramin is Kaltern, behind which the Adige Valley to the hills of Überetsch with communities Appiano Appiano and lifts; in the south follow as the next towns on the west side of the lower mainland and Kurtatsch Magrè. The main town, Tramin ( 240-360 m asl ), and the south of it located Rungg fraction ( 290-320 m) extend the gently rising slope foot of Mendel comb; the fraction Söll ( 400-750 m ) north of the municipal seat is on slightly higher slope terraces.

Below the settlement areas Tramin owns part of the Lowlands valley floor bordering the neighboring communities Kurtatsch, Neumarkt, Montan, Auer, Pfatten and Kaltern, and rich means of a territorial enclave up to the Adige. West on Tramin wins the calculated to Nonsberggruppe Mendelkamm height quickly. The municipality place there on the summit of Roen ( 2116 m), through which the line runs to the Trentino, its highest point.

Attractions

The sumptuously decorated churches testify to the economic importance of the market town Tramin for the area in the Middle Ages.

  • St. Mauritius in Söll: The church is constructed with Romanesque and Gothic frescoes.

Economy

Major industries are the wine on the sunny slopes ( conducting ), fruit growing, which is operated mainly on the dry-laid in the 18th century " Traminer Moos" in the valley bottom and tourism.

Twinning

  • Mindelheim is since 1994 official sister city of Tramin. Exist between the city and the chapel Mindelheim Bürgerkapelle Tramin already since 1958 close and friendly relations.
  • Mark Roeder, located south of Frankfurt am Main, since 1978 partner community.
  • Schwaz in North Tyrol is since 1998 official sister city of Tramin.
