Wichelen is a municipality in the Denderstreek in the province of East Flanders in Belgium. It lies on the Scheldt and is part of the Arrondissement of Dendermonde. Wichelen has 11,374 inhabitants ( 1 January 2012) and an area of 22.87 km ². The municipality consists of the nucleus and the two districts clamp Belle and Serskamp. The Molenbeek runs through clamp Belle, Serskamp and Wichelen.

Wichelen has in the district Schellebelle a regional railway station on the railway line Gent- Wichelen - Aalst and Ghent -Brussels - Wichelen - Dendermonde, Mechelen.
