1948–49 Swedish Division I season

The season 1948/49, was the fifth season of Division 1 as the highest Swedish hockey league. Master was Hammarby IF. Leksand IF, Mora IK, Västerås IK and IF Surahammars descended to the second division.

Mode

In the main round of the league was divided into two groups ( North and South). Each of the six teams in each group completed a total of ten games. The two group winners met in the championship final. The two last placed each group went directly into the second division. For a win, each team was given two points, a draw there was a point and a defeat.
