2010–11 Austrian Cup

The Cup of the Austrian Football Association was played in season 2010/11 to 76 times. The official name of the competition was after the withdrawal of the previous contest sponsor, Stieglbrauerei, for the time being only " OFB Cup", before in April 2011 Samsung Electronics Austria GmbH was acquired as a sponsor. He stood under the motto " goals for Europe." Defending champion was the SK Sturm Graz.

The winner - the SV Ried, which prevailed in the final with a 2-0 win against the SC Austria Lustenau - is entitled to participate in the third qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League 2011 /12.

The games of the OFB Cup was not just a matter of prestige, but also a battle for prize money. The participants of the second round were given 4,000 euros appearance money. In the second round received this 8,000 euros, in the quarterfinals 25,000 euros and 40,000 euros in the semifinals. The two finalists will be rewarded with 120,000 euros. Mode

The OFB Cup will be played in the knockout system with no return game. Event of a tie after 90 minutes followed by a prolongation of twice 15 minutes. Is it there is still no winner is determined, the meeting will be decided on penalties.

Draw

In the first two main rounds were preferred Bundesliga clubs (Bundesliga and First League ) against clubs of the national associations, drawn from the third round all teams from a pot.

Preliminary round matches

The draw for the preliminary round was conducted by OFB on July 7, 2010. The 34 preliminary round matches were discharge no later than 1 August 2010.

In the 34 games, there were 6 comparisons between clubs in the national league, to 11 duels between clubs of Regional and 17 ties between clubs national league and the Regional, with 14 victories went to Regional clubs and 3 wins at national league teams. Thus, 25 of the Regional Associations, and 9 provincial league teams for the first main round could qualify. From the second teams of the Bundesliga clubs resigned only FC Admira Wacker Mödling II from.

The highest victory scored the SPG Kapfenberg Austria / Kapfenberg SV II who defeated the SVL Flavia Solva away with 6-0 gates. What was remarkable was that all six goals came in the second game Häfte. Games of the 1st round

The draw for the first round was conducted on August 3, 2010. The clubs in the Bundesliga and First League could not be drawn against each other. Associations of the national associations were basically home advantage against clubs in the Bundesliga and First League. The matches of the first round must be made up no later than 15 August 2010.

The draw revealed some interesting pairings. So it was at SK Rapid Wien for internal duel the second team against the Bundesliga team. The SKU Amstetten met after she turned in the first round, the second team of FC Admira Wacker Mödling, now on the first team of the club. For real local derby took place in Bregenz, when the local SC to FC Lustenau received 07.

The draw for the second round was held on 20 September 2010 was played on 9 and 10 November 2010.

In the second round was under the Regional club FC Blau- Weiss Linz, in the second round of surprising champions FC Red Bull Salzburg had defeated at home to the Bundesliga club SV Mattersburg. The Upper Austrian derby between the current ( 14th round ) Bundesliga leaders SV Ried and the Bundesliga taillight LASK Linz Ried could decide for themselves. FK Austria Vienna defeated promoted FC Wacker Innsbruck at home in the extension and thus successfully took revenge for the 0-3 defeat at the last meeting of the two clubs in the Bundesliga in August. The only one still remaining in the competition club the fourth power level, the SK Vorwärts Steyr, welcomed home the defending champion SK Sturm Graz. The Bundesliga side was the class difference rarely play and won in extra time. Also, the Kapfenberg SV had in the second round against the first division club FC Lustenau 07 into overtime, then won but 2-0. The most significant victory in the second round of the celebrated SK Rapid Wien against first division side TSV Hartberg with a 3-0. Endgame

In the final of OFB Cup 2010/11 Bundesliga side SV Ried met with first division side SC Austria Lustenau. The finals took place at Vienna's Ernst -Happel-Stadion on May 29, 2011. The winner is qualified for the third qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League 2011 /12.

The SV Ried won the game 2-0 after 90 minutes, making it cup winner.

For Rieder it is the second finals after the Cup victory in 1998. Austria Lustenau reached for the first time in club history, and the first club from Vorarlberg Cup final.

While Ried on the way to the finals alongside defending champions Sturm Graz ( quarter-finals ), the Bundesliga Rapid ( semifinals ) and LASK ( second round ) turns off, Lustenau defeated, among others, record - Winners' Cup Austria Wien ( quarterfinals ) and Kapfenberg ( semi-finals ).

With SV Ried and Austria Lustenau for the first time are in the OFB Cup history against two teams, one of which is not at least one of one of the five largest Austrian cities - Vienna, Graz, Linz, Salzburg or Innsbruck - comes.
