Amstetten (Württemberg)

Amstetten is a municipality in the Alb -Donau-Kreis in Baden- Württemberg ( Germany ).

Geography

Geographical location

Amstetten is on the north Swabian Alb at the top of Geislingen, about 25 km north- west of Ulm. Here coming crosses an ancient trade route from the Filstal the Alb.

Neighboring communities

The municipality is bordered to the north by the city Geislingen the Göppingen district, on the east by Gerstetten in the district of Heidenheim, Altheim ( Alb) and Weidenstetten, to the south and to the west by Lonsee Nellingen.

Community structure

The municipality includes the villages of Amstetten Bräunisheim, Hofstett - Emerbuch, Reutti, Schalk Stetten and Stubersheim. The place Amstetten itself is divided into the old Amstetten -Dorf, the newly formed after the railway was built Amstetten Station.

History

Traces of a Roman road station at the head of Geislingen demonstrate the important traffic geographic location. While in Amstetten even still lacking traces of an early medieval settlement, proof of which are of the districts Schalk Stetten, Bräunisheim and Stubersheim a settlement at least since the Merovingian period. The first mention Amstettens dates back to 1275 in Liber decimationis, the tenth book of the diocese of Constance. In the late Middle Ages, the region belonged predominantly to Counts of Helfenstein, but had to pledge the late 14th century to the imperial city of Ulm its possession.

Policy

Parish council

In the local elections on June 7, 2009 Free Wählergemeinschaft 6 seats won (4 less than in 2004 ), the CDU Association 8 seats (same as 2004) and the Citizens' List 6 seats ( it was not represented in the previous council ). Free Wählergemeinschaft and free electoral association together form the group of independent councilors.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms shows on silver ( white ) base a black shepherd shovel, which is covered with a silver ( white ) five-spoke wheel. The municipality flag corresponds with this black and white coat of arms. Coat of arms and flag were awarded in 1958.

The colors of the emblem reminiscent of the city of Ulm, to the Amstetten once belonged. The shepherd shovel reminiscent of the once common sheep farming and the five-spoke wheel remembered as a symbol of the transport and industrial to the train station, the Amstetten owes its economic development in this area.

Amstetten maintains partnership relations with Celles- sur -Belle in France since 1989.

Traffic

Amstetten is located on the B 10 Stuttgart -Ulm.

Railroad / branch lines

The railway line Stuttgart- Ulm- Munich ( Filstalbahn ) runs through the community. The station had Amstetten. Earlier by connecting two secondary lines as well as by its position at the head of the Geislingen importance

Today drive on the secondary roads temporarily two museum railways. The local railway Amstetten - Gerstetten ( 1435 mm) runs on a 20-kilometer route to Gerstetten. The Albbähnle after Oppingen ( 1000 mm gauge ) runs along a section of the former railway line to Laichingen. After its closure in 1985, to prevent the degradation of the 6 kilometer-long route between Amstetten and Oppingen succeeded.

The district has Stubersheim in Germany in the season 2010/2011 the football team with the fewest points and the most goals conceded per game on average 13

Personalities

  • Benedictus Ducis worked from 1533 Stubersheim, 1535 in Stetten Schalk. He was a priest, humanist and composer of the Renaissance.
