Bingöl Province

Bingöl ( Kurdish: Cewlig; Zazaisch: Çolig ) is a Turkish province in eastern Anatolia. It borders the provinces of Tunceli, Erzincan, Elazığ, Erzurum, Muş, and Diyarbakır.

The provincial capital is also called Bingöl, the old name is but Çabakçur. The name of the province of Bingöl was supposedly given because of the many lakes (Bin göl Turkish for thousand lakes). On Zazaisch and Kurdish is called Bingöl Çewlig / Çolig, which means garden or field.

1881, the vilayet of Bitlis was founded and the circles Çabakçur and Genç attached there. Kigi came to Erzincan and Karlıova to Muş. 1936 Bingöl independent province and received its present form. Since 1945, the province bears the official name of Bingöl.

Geography

Bingöl has an area of ​​8250 km ² and is on average 1200 m high. The highest mountain is the Bingöl - mountain at about 3200 m. There are also the mountains Karir ( 2373 m), Şeytan ( 2906 m), Çavreş ( 2246 m), Serçelîk (2900 m) and Cotela ( 2940 m). Since Bingöl is very mountainous, there are a few levels, the largest level in Genç 60 km ² and in Bingöl - center 80 km ². The summer pastures are high average of 1500 m. Some of these hot Bazirgan, Kandil, Mirgemir and Masla.

The river Murat is the largest river in Bingöl. There is also the Perifluss. Some lakes are Kerkis Gölü, Zirlir Gölü and Sar Gölü.

Bingöl is poor in natural resources. You can find iron ore in Genç and Karlıova.
