Caromb

Caromb is a commune with 3175 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the Vaucluse department in the Provence- Alpes- Côte d' Azur.

Geography

Caromb is located at the foot of Mont Ventoux, about eight kilometers northeast of the neighboring town of Carpentras. Other neighboring municipalities are Mazan in the south, Modène in the east, and Malaucène Le Barroux in the north and Saint- Hippolyte- le- Graveyron in the West.

The municipality is in the south of the Mède and one of its tributaries, the Mala Grone ( east of the village, in north-south direction ), drained. Practically the western border is the Brégoux which also the four -acre man-made Lac du Paty feeds.

History

Antiquity

At the time of Celto - Ligurians lived in the region around Carpentras and south of Mont Ventoux of the tribe of Memini, which was adjacent to the Vocontiern, the Kavaren and Albici.
