Althen-des-Paluds
Althen -des- Paluds is a commune with 2684 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ), which is in the Vaucluse and the Provence- Alpes- Côte d' Azur.
History
The city's name is reminiscent of Jean Althen who came to Avignon in 1756 to make his first experience with the cultivation of madder dyed there. In the 1830s, the village flourished thanks to the dyers madder, which it acquired independence from Monteux.
