Monieux

Monieux is a commune with 344 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the Vaucluse department in the Provence- Alpes- Côte d' Azur.

In Monieux two dedications for the Gallo / local Roman god Mars Nabelcus were found.

Geography

Monieux lies at the foot of the mountain range, which also includes the Mont Ventoux, in the plateau of Sault. Here the Gorges de la Nesque that the river has dug Nesque to 400 meters deep into the mountains begins. The road D942 from Villes -sur -Auzon to Sault leads through the gorge and through Monieux.
