Sault (Vaucluse)

Sault is a commune in the Vaucluse department in the Provence- Alpes- Côte d' Azur. The municipality has 1357 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011).

Geography

Sault is located about 15 kilometers southeast of Mont Ventoux, the highest mountain in the Provençal Alps. The municipality is located in the Pays de Sault, 41 kilometers east of Carpentras and 28 kilometers north of Apt.

The village lies on a hill that reaches a height of 766 meters. Its location is the starting point to various natural attractions: Nearby are located next to the Mont Ventoux, the Gorges de la Nesque, the Toulourenctal and the Plateau d' Albion.

Demographics

The community had in the 18th and 19th centuries, more than 2500 inhabitants.
