Comitán de Domínguez is a municipality in the center of the Mexican state of Chiapas. The municipality is located in the Sierra Madre de Chiapas. The name comes from the Nahuatl Comitán and means " place of the potters ", the part of the name honors Belisario Domínguez Domínguez Palencia, a Mexican liberal politician.

The municipality was founded in 1915 today has about 141,000 inhabitants and covers 981.2 km ². Administrative seat and largest town in the municipality is the same Pueblo Mágico Comitán de Domínguez.
