Cunelières

Cunelières ( formerly German spoon village ) is a village in the French department of Territoire de Belfort in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Cunelières is located on 354 m above sea level, about ten kilometers east of the town of Belfort ( a straight line ). The village is located in the lowlands of the Burgundian Gate, at the western edge of the valley slightly increased the Ruisseau de Saint -Nicolas, opposite Foussemagne, on the southeastern edge of the large forest, Bois de Besson Court.

The area of ​​2.02 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the weakly in relief landscape in the Burgundian Gate ( trouée de Belfort ). The eastern boundary runs mostly along the Ruisseau de Saint- Nicolas, who winds up with meanders through nearly a kilometer wide valley and ensures the drainage of the Bourbeuse to Allaine. From the river, the municipality's area extends westward to the adjacent plateau, which is on average 360 m. It is partly, partly covered with arable and meadow land with forest. With 366 meters, the highest elevation of Cunelières is reached at the edge of the Bois de Besson Court. In a small valley west of the village there is a pond that was created for fish farming.

Neighboring communities of Cunelières are Foussemagne in the north, Montreux- Vieux in the east, Montreux -Chateau in the South and Petit- Croix in the West.

History

Is first mentioned in the 15th century Cunelières under the name Cournoillière. In the course followed by the names of Kulm ( 1458 ), Quenegliere ( 1468 ), Kunglier ( 1472 ), Künigleren ( 1509) Cinelier ( 1555) and Kunglieu ( 1662). Middle of the 14th century came to the field of Cunelières under the supremacy of the Habsburgs and belonged to this rule Montreux. Together with the Sundgau Cunelières came with the 1648 Peace of Westphalia to the French crown. Since 1793, the village belonged to the Department of Haut -Rhin, however, remained in 1871 as part of the Territoire de Belfort as opposed to the rest of Alsace in France. Ecclesiastical Cunelières belongs to Montreux -Chateau.

Population

With 298 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Cunelières one of the small communities of the department of Territoire de Belfort. After the population had decreased in the first half of the 20th century ( in 1906 149 people were still counted ), a significant population increase has been recorded since the early 1960s. Since then, the population has tripled.

Economy and infrastructure

Cunelières was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and the fish embossed village. In addition, there are today some of the local small business enterprises. Meanwhile, the village has been transformed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who do their work in the larger towns in the area and in the agglomeration Belfort.

The village has good transport links. It is located near the main road D419 which leads from Belfort to Altkirch. The nearest links to the A36 motorway is located at a distance of about seven kilometers. Further road links exist with Foussemagne, Montreux -Chateau and the Petit- Croix. The nearest railway station on the railway line Belfort - Mulhouse is located in Montreux -Chateau.
