Elzange
Elzange ( German Elsingen ) is a commune with 782 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district of Thionville -Est and Canton Metzervisse.
Geography
The municipality is situated on the Elzange Canner, about nine kilometers east of Thionville at an altitude 157-306 m above sea level.
Neighboring municipalities are Kœnigsmacker in the north, Oudrenne in the east, Inglange in the south, southwest, and Valmestroff Distroff in the west.
History
The town was first mentioned in 1341 as Elcanges and heard since 1661 to France.
From 1812 to 1923 the neighboring Valmestroff was incorporated.
During the Second World War was at Elzange a military camp. But no fighting took place, since the place was always introduced to the open place.
