Manom

Manom ​​( German Monhofen, Lorraine Monuwen / Munnowen ) is a commune with 2618 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region.

Geography

The community Manom ​​lies on the right bank of the Moselle River, just to the northeast of Thionville.

History

Manom ​​was first mentioned in 1050 under the name Monheim and is named after a Frankish landowners named Munno. The French form of the name first appeared in 1582 as a pressure gauge. Since 1659 belongs to the place with France.

In Manom ​​is the castle of La Grange ( Castle chafing ). It was rebuilt from 1731. The plans are attributed to Robert de Cotte. 1750 was acquired by the Marquis de Fouquet the castle, which today is owned by his descendants and is inhabited by them.
