Ford Escape Hybrid

The Ford Escape Hybrid is a service offered on the U.S. market from 2004 to 2012 version of the Ford Escape in the U.S. American manufacturer Ford Motor Company. He is the hybrid version of the SUV sold in Europe as the Ford Maverick.

General

The Ford Escape Hybrid was the first hybrid car produced in the U.S. and was later offered in sister models as Mercury Mariner and Mazda Tribute. In early 2012 the production was stopped after 122,850 vehicles. The sales figures achieved in 2007, with 20,961 vehicles a climax during 2011 or 11,183 Ford Escape Hybrid were sold. The 2013er model of the Ford Escape received more fuel-efficient conventional engines, so that did not prepare a hybrid drive.

Instead, the Ford C -Max has been offered since 2012 in North America with hybrid drive.

The Ford Escape Hybrid uses a further developed version of Ford hybrid technology from the first Toyota Prius. The space for the hybrid components is already included in the development and construction. The all-wheel drive of the Escape is conventionally realized via a cardan shaft.

Use

On the initiative of the City of New York City have been used since 2005, numerous Ford Escape Hybrid as a New York City Taxi Cabs. His consumption advantage he was able to play during the fuel supply problems as a result of Hurricane Sandy, since it requires significantly fewer fuel stops than conventional cab models.
