Ford Prefect

Ford Prefect was a passenger car model of Ford in the UK. The vehicles were introduced in 1938 and manufactured in Dagenham, Essex.

The original Ford Prefect was a revision of the Ford Model 7W and also the first Ford that was not designed in Detroit, Michigan. It was made specifically for the UK market. This model of the Prefect was produced with a few small changes from 1939 to the year 1953, the original model E93A 1939-1948 and the slightly modernized Model E493A 1949-1953.

In September 1953, completely redesigned small Ford with modern pontoon body was presented, which was partly produced until 1959. It was the Ford Anglia types ( two-door ) and Ford Prefect ( four-door ), each model 100E. A cheap version was the Ford Popular 103E model. From 1955 there was also a station wagon, which was offered with the equipment of the Prefect 100E as Ford Squire to 1959 and with the facilities of Anglia as a Ford Escort.

In 1959, a completely new Ford Anglia ( 105E ) appeared, made ​​the Prefect and the Squire this model change is no longer with. Instead, there were 1959 to 1961 the Prefect 107E, a slightly revised version of the 100E. In 1962 appeared as a replacement of the Prefect of the new Ford Cortina.

Except in the UK Ford Prefects in Australia, Canada and Sweden were sold. The Canadian model has been adapted specially for left-hand drive.
