Gairdner Foundation International Award

The Canada Gairdner International Award is a Canadian from the Gairdner Foundation in Toronto award science prize in the field of medical research. It is awarded annually since 1959 to multiple winners for outstanding discoveries or contributions to medical science.

2009 was awarded its present name, before she was named Gairdner Foundation International Award. Since the year award with a cash prize of 100,000 Canadian dollars is doped.

The designed in the form of a sculpture prize is one of the most prestigious prices in the biomedical field. As of the 2013 Gairdner Foundation International 85 recipients of the awards, which is about a quarter of all prize winners have later received a Nobel Prize. This year the Nobel Prize ceremony is given in parentheses.
