Huehuetán is a municipality in the southwest of the Mexican state of Chiapas. The municipality is situated on the edge of the Sierra Madre de Chiapas.

The name of this place comes from Nahuatl and means place where there is a surplus of old ( people ).

This municipality has about 33,000 inhabitants and an area of 304.3 km ². Administrative seat and largest town of the Municipalities is the same Huehuetán.

The municipality borders the Municipalities Huehuetán Tapachula, Mazatán, Huixtla and Tuzantán.
