Kenya national cricket team

The Kenyan cricket team representing Kenya in international matches in cricket. They are since 1981 Associate Member of the International Cricket Council after they were previously part of the East African Cricket Team.

History

Beginnings of cricket in Kenya

Cricket was introduced in Kenya by colonialists in the late 19th century. The first match took place in 1899, national games were held regularly from 1910. The first international games were held in 1951 when they played against Tanganyika. The Association, the Kenyan Cricket Association, was founded in 1953. Part of East Africa

After the independence
