KÅ“nigsmacker

Kœnigsmacker ( German kingmakers, Lorraine Maacher ) is a commune with 2118 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region.

Geography

The municipality is situated on the right bank of the Moselle, opposite Cattenom, about halfway between Thionville and the tri- France - Germany - Luxembourg.

The municipality also little to the east village Métrich heard ( Metrich ).

History

The place was called in the Middle Ages, first Machra. From 1320 he was replaced by John of Luxembourg, King of Bohemia, secured, from which is derived the place name.

Since 1661 Kœnigsmacker belongs to France. After the French Revolution the city was temporarily Frey bloke.
