The Droga Krajowa 4 (short DK4, pol. For, National Road 4 'or, country road 4' ) is a country road in Poland. It currently runs from Tarnów to the Ukrainian border and is an important east-west axis in the Polish road represents the total length is 169 kilometers. In its original route as a continuous east-west axis, it has been replaced in some parts by the A4 motorway. After the completion of the A4 motorway, the main road will disappear from the road network.
The main road has a large international traffic engineering significance: it is part of the III. Corridor, a significant part of the traffic route from Western Europe to the Ukraine and is accompanied along its entire route of the European route 40.
History
This line was owned until 1918, the Austrian crown land Galicia and was called Krakow Reichsstrasse. She was an important east -west connection within the Habsburg Empire and joined the cities of Cracow and Lemberg. Due to their strategic importance, it was expanded during the reign of Joseph II to the Chaussee, 1779. Within ten years, the road of Silesia was completed to the Russian border at Brody. In the early years, soldiers and paid laborers were used to build roads, then the residents were obligated to forced labor. 1893 there were 26 toll stations on the 400- km stretch between Teschen and Lviv.
This road was the Polish Roads Act of 10 December 1920, State Street: declared ( ger. Droga Państwowa ).
In 1985, the Polish road network was reorganized. The previous state roads ( ger.: Drogi Państwowe ) were in local streets ( ger.: pl Drogi krajowe; singing Droga Krajowa. . ) Renamed and renumbered. The road from Görlitz to Lviv was designated in 1986 as Droga Krajowa 4.
Traffic Safety
The street has several so-called Black dots (Polish: czarne punkty; czarny singular point). These are places where it is particularly prevalent in accidents. On March 30, 2013, the newly built section of the main road between the nodes Tywonia and Tuczempy was taken as a bypass road from Jarosław in the network of toll for trucks sections. The two sections cover a road length of 64.4 kilometers.
