NBA All-Star Game
The NBA All- Star Game is the culmination of the NBA All-Star Weekend, which usually takes place in February in a city previously selected, always changing since 1951. The date last All-Star Game took place on February 16, 2014 New Orleans Arena in New Orleans instead. The next All-Star Game is scheduled for February 15, 2015 at Madison Square Garden, New York.
In the game, the best players in the Western Conference and of the Eastern Conference compete against each other.
The Player (2 guards, 3 forwards per Conference), which received the most votes by fan vote, may in the starting five. Search for the election, the 30 head coaches in the NBA clubs further seven players for the team of their Conference from ( five of them on the five positions, two additional position independent ), so a total of 24 players to participate in this event. This avoids that only popular to players and less popular, but possibly better players are excluded.
The head coaches of the two All-Star teams are the coach, whose team leads the respective Conference two weeks before the game. Since neither team is to be cared for in two consecutive All- Star Games from the same coach, the coach moves up to the second- best team in the Conference in this case. This rule was introduced in the 1980s, when the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference were almost every year in the first place, and is therefore named after the former Lakers Coach Pat Riley, also called " Riley Rule". Perform two NBA teams level on points at the Conference, one coach may coach the All- Star team, whose last use at All-Star Game is older.
Results
From 1951 to 2014 63 All- Star Games were held. After winning the Eastern Conference against the Western Conference lead with 37:26 win.
The locations of Memphis, Portland, Sacramento, Oklahoma City and Toronto are the current " NBA cities," which were not the venue for an All-Star Game. The Canadian city of Toronto but was chosen as the site for the All -Star Game in 2016. In order for the All-Star Game will be held outside the United States for the first time.
