Postal codes in Switzerland and Liechtenstein

In Switzerland, the zip codes are four digits. As in 1993 introduced postcode system in Germany may receive multiple postcodes a community. That a village conducts its own zip code, so does not mean that it is an independent municipality. In addition, a zip code can span multiple political communities (eg: 3048 Worblaufen, includes parts of the municipalities of Bern and Ittigen ), so it is not possible an unambiguous assignment in both directions. In addition, in larger cities often not possible to assign a unique ZIP Code post offices ( mailboxes). For this reason, working internally with post- six -digit postal codes.

In the Swiss postal code system and the Principality of Liechtenstein is included. The German enclave Büsingen and the Italian enclave of Campione d' Italia have in addition to their own national per Swiss postal code.
