Ramona Balthasar

Ramona Balthasar ( born January 9, 1964 in Forst) is a former rower from the German Democratic Republic. 1988 she succeeded in the aft of the Olympic victory.

Ramona Balthasar began at the SG Dynamo Potsdam and transferred in 1985 to the SC Dynamo Berlin. In 1984, she was intended for the Olympic team of the GDR, but could not compete because of the Olympic boycott. When rowing regatta on the Rotsee in Lucerne, she took along with Birgit Peter third place in the double sculls. 1985 changed Peter and Balthasar in the quadruple sculls and won at the World Championships together with Jutta Hampe and Kristina Mundt.

After they no longer came to the GDR national team in the skull, Ramona Balthasar moved to the belt boats. At the 1988 Seoul Olympics won the controlled by Daniela Neunast eighth in the occupation Annegret Strauch, Judith Zeidler, Kathrin Haacker, Ute Wild, Anja Kluge, Ramona Balthasar, Beatrix Schroer and Ute rod before the boats from Romania and China. 1989 won the Romanian aft the World Cup, Ramona Balthasar won with the GDR aft the silver medal.

For the Olympic gold medal in 1988 Balthasar was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in gold. She has also received this award in 1986.
