Rize Province

Rize is a province in north-eastern Turkey on the Black Sea. The provincial capital is the same Rize. The province is bordered on the west by the province of Trabzon, Erzurum and Bayburt to the south and east to Artvin. The province has about 90 km of coastline.

In the province of 324 152 inhabitants (as of 2012), 141 524 of them in the capital of Rize. Economically, particularly the Teepflanzenanbau and partly the Kiwifruchtanbau is significant. The first Teepflanzenanbau in Turkey took place in Rize in 1937. With a contribution of 66 % of the 1.25 million tons Turkey's total harvest ( year 2012), the province of Rize is the largest Teepflanzenanbaugebiet Turkey. The following counties are among Rize:
