Tuzantán

Tuzantán is a municipality in the southwest of the Mexican state of Chiapas. The municipality is situated on the edge of the Sierra Madre de Chiapas. It has about 28,000 inhabitants and is 174.9 km ². Administrative seat and largest town of the Municipalities is the same Tuzantán; the nearest large town is Xochiltepec.

The name comes from the Nahuatl Tuzantán and means where there are many pocket gophers.

The municipality borders the municipalities Tuzantán Motozintla, Tapachula, Huehuetán and Huixtla.
