Vétrigne

Vétrigne ( formerly German Würteringen or Würtringen ) is a town in the French department of Territoire de Belfort in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Vétrigne is located on 372 m above the sea, about five kilometers north- northeast of the town of Belfort ( a straight line ). The village is located in the northern part of the Burgundian Gate, on the plateau south of the Forêt de Roppe below the Fort de Roppe near the Vosges mountains.

The area of ​​2.46 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the landscape in the northern part of the Burgundian Gate ( trouée de Belfort ). The southern part of the area occupied by the wide area at the foot of the Forêt de Roppe. This is dewatered to Autruche by the village stream of Denney to the southeast. It is average at 370 m and is mostly covered with arable and meadow land. To the northwest, the municipality's area extends over the wooded western slopes of the level with the Fort de Roppe to the Etang Rodolphe, opens its outflow into the Savoureuse. With 472 m is reached the highest elevation of Vétrigne below the Fort de Roppe.

History

Is first mentioned Vétrigne in 1347 under the German name Vintringen. First, the control of the Lords of Montbéliard standing, the village mid-14th century came under the suzerainty of the Habsburg dynasty. It belonged to the dominions Belfort and Rougemont. Together with the Sundgau Vétrigne came with the 1648 Peace of Westphalia to the French crown. Since 1793, the village belonged to the Department of Haut -Rhin, however, remained in 1871 as part of the Territoire de Belfort as opposed to the rest of Alsace in France. In the first half of the 20th century Vétrigne was served by a railway line, which ran from Belfort to Rougemont- le -Château, on the French railway network. Since 1973 Vétrigne part of the agglomeration Belfort (now community association Communauté d' Agglomà Belfortaine ).

Population

With 581 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Vétrigne one of the small communities of the department of Territoire de Belfort. After the population had been in the first half of the 20th century, mostly in the range between 120 and 140 people, a strong population growth has been recorded since the early 1970s. Since then, the population has more than doubled.

Economy and infrastructure
