Villa del Carbon is a municipality in the Mexican state of México. It belongs to the Zona Metropolitana del Valle de México, the metropolitan region around Mexico City. Administrative seat and largest town in the municipality of the same name Villa del Carbon. The municipality had in the year 2010 44.881 inhabitants, its surface area is 307.7 km ².

Geography

Villa del Carbon is in the north of the State of Mexico, 35 km northwest of Mexico City at a height of 2300 m at the reservoir Taxhimay to 3600 m at Cerro de La Bufa. 45% of the municipality is forested, about another 35% is used for agriculture.

The municipality of Villa del Carbon borders the Municipalities Tepotzotlán, Chapa de Mota, Morelos, Nicolás Romero and Jiquipilco and to the municipality Tepeji del Rio de Ocampo, Hidalgo.
