Villarmentero de Campos

Villarmentero de Campos is a town on the Camino de Santiago in the province of Palencia of the Autonomous Community of Castile -Leon.

History

Its name refers to the " Campi Gothorum " ( Gothic fields ) of the Chronica Albeldense, the first part of word is the name of a beveled " Armentarius ", called on the re- colonization in medieval documents. One local legend has it that the necessary foundation for the church relics of St. Martins to have come on a mule in the place.

  • Church of San Martin de Tours, with a Mudéjar coffered ceiling ( 15th century, without painting, with a typical pin centered in the subjects ) and a Plateresque altarpiece.
