Espinosa del Camino

Espinosa del Camino is a place on the Camino de Santiago in the province of Burgos, autonomous community of Castile -Leon.

Attractions

  • Parish of the Assumption (Iglesia de la Asunción ), in Renaissance style. From 1544 Main Chapel ( Capilla Mayor ) was grown by Juan de Landeras and Juan de Carasa. The chapel has a square plan and a stellar vault and cost 40,000 maravedíes.
  • Rural architecture. Espinosa has worked with some old half-timbered houses very good examples of the rare rural construction in this area.
  • Ruins of the Convent of St. Felix ( Monasterio of San Felices ) between the village and Villafranca Montes de Oca can be found on the edge of the Camino a decaying apse, recently received the rest of the monastery of San Felix. According to tradition, here is the Count Diego Rodríguez Porcelos, founder of the city of Burgos, have been buried. In 1409, the Mozarabic community was annexed to the monastery of San Millán de la Cogolla.
