Viorica Susanu

Viorica Susanu ( born October 29, 1975 in Galaţi ) is a Romanian rower. With three Olympic gold medals, she is one of the most successful rowers.

At the University of George Bacovia Bacau she studied sports. Susanu moved after the Olympic gold medal in 1996 in the new Romanian eighth and won in 1997, 1998 and 1999 with the eight gold at the World Rowing Championships. At the 2000 Olympic Games Susanu won with eight of their first Olympic gold medal, with it were Georgeta Damian, Viorica Susanu, Ioana Olteanu, Veronica Cochelea, Elisabeta Lipa, Mary Magdalene Dumitrache, Liliana Gafencu, Doina Ignat and control Elena Georgescu.

In the coming years, the Romanian roller lost its dominant position, in 2001 and 2003 won Susanu with the aft Silver, 2002 the aft did not succeed in winning a medal. As of 2001, rowed Susanu together with Georgeta Damian - Andrunache in two without coxswain and won here in 2001 and 2002 the world title, 2003, the boat was third in the World Championships. At the 2004 Olympics but the Romanian rowers were back in top form. Damian and Susanu won gold in pairs and also without the rollercoaster took first place for the third time in a row.

Damian Andrunache and Susanu failed to win any medal in pairs without 2005 and 2006, at the World Rowing Championships in Munich in 2007 they won the bronze. At the 2008 Olympics in Beijing she erruderten the gold medal in pairs without coxswain in front of the Chinese women and White Russians. The following day Susanu won a bronze medal along with Ms Barabas, Constanţa Burcică, Doina Ignat, Simona Muşat, Ioana Papuc, Rodica Serban, Viorica Susanu and Elena Georgescu even in eighth.

After a three year break Susanu returned in 2012 back to the regatta course and finished with Georgeta Andrunescu third place at the World Cup in Munich. At the Olympic Games in London, the two occupied the fifth place.
