Thicourt
Thicourt ( Lorraine Thico, German Diedersdorf ) is a commune located with 147 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region, about 33 kilometers east of Metz.
History
1018 first mentioned as Tiedresdorf. then Thiederesdorf ( 1142 ), Dydersdorf ( 1349 ), Diederstorff ( 1404).
The small village was in the Middle Ages on German language area and was then mentioned as Diderich, but is now frankophon for centuries. From 1093 to 1602 there was a Benedictine monastery in the town.
Since 1766 Thicourt belongs to France. 1871-1918 it was again temporarily to the German Empire, but French remained the official and vernacular.
