1961–62 Soviet League season
The 1961/62 season was the 16th season of the Klass A as the highest Soviet Hockey League. The Soviet league title secured for the first time ever, Spartak Moscow, while the city's two neighbors Kirovets Leningrad and Leningrad LIISchT descended to the second division.
Mode
The 20 teams played in the Klass A return match against any opponent, bringing the total number of games per team was 38. Master was the best team in point, while the two last placed descended to the second division. For a win, each team was given two points, a draw there was a point and a defeat.
