1959–60 Soviet League season
The season 1959/60 was the 14th season of the Klass A as the highest Soviet Hockey League. The Soviet league title secured for the eighth time in total CSKA Moscow.
Mode
The 18 teams in the Klass A were first divided into the main round in three groups, each with six participants. The teams in Groups A and B contested by 25 games, the teams in Group C are each 30 games. The four best teams from each group qualified for the playoff quarterfinals, the four best teams received a bye for the knockout stages. The remaining ten teams and excreted in the playoffs teams participated in their respective placement sorted according to the different placement rounds. For a win, each team was given two points, a draw there was a point and a defeat.
Main Round
New in the first division included the team of LIISchT Leningrad (Russian Ленинградский институт инженеров железнодорожного транспорта, now State University of Transportation Saint Petersburg ) and the team of Dinamo Riga, under the name of the Latvian Wagonbaukonzerns Rigas Vagonbūves Rupnica at the League participated.
