1985–86 Soviet League season
The 1985/86 season the league Wysschaja was the 40th season of the highest Soviet Hockey League. The Soviet league title secured for a total of 29 times CSKA Moscow, while Ischstal Izhevsk relegation to the second division.
Mode
The twelve teams in the league Wysschaja first played in a common main round in return game against any opponent, bringing the total number of matches per team was 22.
In the second season phase, the ten best teams in the Main Round played again in return game against each other, the results of the main draws were taken. The point- best team in the final round was finally Soviet masters.
The two last placed the main round met in the relegation to the six best second division. All the teams in the relegation denied a total of 28 games. The top two teams playing in the following season in the league Wysschaja, the other six teams in the second-rate Perwaja league.
For a win, each team was given two points, a draw there was a point and a defeat.
