2006 Giro d'Italia

The 89th Giro d' Italia was held from 6 to 28, 2006. The cycling consisted of 21 stages with a total length of 3506.2 kilometers ( actually 3524.2 km ); there were a total of 22,500 vertical meters to go.

Route

The Giro d' Italia 2006 paid at the beginning of Wallonia in Belgium, from a four-day visit, before it went on in Italy on May 11 with a team time trial over 38 kilometers. End of the first week there were at Passo Lanciano in the Apennines, the first larger time intervals. After the second rest day on 17 May, the second individual time trial was about 50 km held in Pontedera.

On the 17th stage was planned to last five kilometers up to the Kronplatz ( Plan de Corones ) in South Tyrol on unpaved dirt roads with a gradient of up to 24 percent to cover, but this is due to the adverse weather conditions (some snow) was canceled and the stage ended five kilometers more.
