23rd Saturn Awards

The 23rd Saturn Awards ceremony took place on 23 July 1997. This year for the first time acting awards were awarded for television series. Also, the award for best television series in two categories (Network and syndication / cable) has been split. Successful productions, each with three awards were Independence Day, Star Trek: First Contact and Scream - Scream!.
