Berling, Moselle

Berling ( German Berlingen ) is a commune of 290 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district Sarrebourg and Canton Phalsbourg.

Geography

Berling (Moselle) is located about 16 kilometers northeast of Sarrebourg on the border along the Alsace region at an altitude 220-308 m above sea level. The municipality covers 3.15 km ².

History

The town was first mentioned in 830 as Bercilinga and belonged from 1661 to France, was then by the Peace of Frankfurt in 1871 again German and French after the First World War. Even at the time of the Second World War, the region was again under German administration.
