Niederstinzel

Niederstinzel is a commune of 265 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region.

Geography

Niederstinzel is located north of Fénétrange on the left bank of the Saar. In the north Niederstinzel borders the region of Alsace. The Mosterwald in the west of the district is part of the Lorraine region pond Pays des Étangs within the Regional Natural Park of Lorraine. Through the village the road D 43 Department of Sarre- Union leads to Sarrebourg.

History

Niederstinzel was built around the castle Geroldseck. In the 19th century it was one of two places in the wine-growing district Sarrebourg with a cultivated area of 30 ha Phylloxera prepared the wine the end.
