Bötersen is a municipality in the district of Rotenburg in Sottrum (Wümme ) in the state of Lower Saxony.

Geography

Geographical Location

Bötersen located between Sottrum (8 km) and Rotenburg ( Wümme ) (10 km) and is located on the K202, which runs north-north -west of the B75 at about the level Waffensen. About the K202 is after about seven kilometers west- north - west - Advanced on the " Rotenburg St." - such as Bittstedt to reach the A 1.

History

The earliest finds evidence of a settlement of the area around Bötersen since Neolithic times (from about 4100 BC). Larger archaeological excavations took place on an urn cemetery of the Late Bronze Age and older pre-Roman Iron Age. Nationally known Bötersen was due to the burial ground adjacent to the square of fireplaces Bötersen which dated to the younger Bronze Age. Through the publication of R. Dehnke the Bronze Age research became aware of this phenomenon.

Bötersen was first documented in 1340. The root of the name comes from the Old High German " butene " or " Putirik " what "tube" meant; the suffix "- sen " gives a clue to the origin of the small hamlet between 500 and 1000.

The district Höperhöfen 1596-1600 was affected by witch hunts: two people fell in witch trials.

Incorporations

On March 1, 1974, the neighboring community Höperhöfen was incorporated.

Population Development

On the basis of a communal decision, the construction of new single-family houses is limited to the developed by the local authority land to people who already live for at least five years in the community or have been born here. All other plots are not affected.

Regular events

  • Egg hunt: Every first Saturday in January is the " egg hunt " instead: young and old ( traditionally only men since 2005 on Sunday the women ) go in separate groups and collect bread, eggs and butter to all this then at one of the co- viewfinder or who has no place at home to eat in the restaurant or in the clubhouse. In the evening, then traditionally the "Fast Eight Ball " performed.
