Bra, Piedmont
Bra is a town with 29 298 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the Italian province of Cuneo (CN ), Region Piedmont.
The municipality consists of the villages Pollenzo, San Matteo, San Michele, Bandito and Bra. The neighboring municipalities are Pocapaglia, Cherasco, Sanfrè, Cervere and Marene.

Geography
The city lies in the Roero, 16 km west of Alba, 49 km south of Turin and 50 km north- east of the provincial capital of Cuneo in the valley of the Tanaro.
Economy
The cheese industry is an important industry in Bra. Among other things, the Bra cheese is made. The Italian Slow Food movement was founded in Bra and there is also a strong presence, many companies market their products under this label. Slow Food today has its headquarters in Bra and operates in the district Pollenzo the Università di Gastronomic Sciences. Every two years in September takes place the International Cheese Fair Cheese in Bra.
The city is also a member of Cittaslow, an also founded in Bra 1999 motion to decelerate and increase the quality of life in cities.
Policy
Bruna Sibille (PD ) was elected in June 2009 for mayor. Your center- left coalition, however, has a 9 out of 20 seats majority in the municipal council. It replaced Camillo Scimone ( PdL ), who did not run.
Community partnerships
Since 1988, a partnership with the community Spreitenbach in the Swiss canton of Aargau, since 2001, because of the city in Baden- Württemberg.
Sports
The most important is the local sports field hockey. Based in Bra are the HC Bra ( men) and the RF Lorenzoni (ladies ), Italian giants. On 9 June 1994, the 19th stage of the Giro d' Italia ended in Bra, it won Massimo Ghirotto.
