Emmelie de Forest

Emmelie de Forest (born 28 February 1993 Randers as Emmelie Charlotte Victoria Engström ) is a Danish pop singer that for Denmark the Euro Vision Song Contest won in 2013 with the song Only teardrops.

Life and career

Emmelie de Forest is the daughter of a Danish woman and a Swede, Ingvar Engström (1938-2010), who took the surname de Forest in old age. Her parents divorced when she was very young. De Forest singing since the age of nine, including a church and a gospel choir. In her 14 years she collaborated with Scottish musician Fraser Neill. Over the next four years they performed together at various festivals, concerts and various cultural sites.

De Forest grew up with her mother in Mariager ( North Jutland ). She has four siblings. At the age of 18, she moved in 2011 to the Danish capital Copenhagen to study singing at the Complete Vocal Institute. Since 2012, she writes lyrics and took first songs in the studio. Emmelie de Forest also plays guitar.

On January 26, 2013, it won with Teardrops Only the Danish preselection for the Euro Vision Song Contest 2013 in Malmö nine competitors by the audience rating.
