Specifications

Drive

The liquid-cooled four-cylinder engine produced from 998 cc capacity is rated at 72 kW (98 hp) and a maximum torque of 88 Nm at an engine speed of 6500 min -1. Unthrottled engine reached a rated output of 91.4 kW ( 125 hp ) and maximum torque of 95.2 Nm at a speed of 8600 min -1. The cylinder head of the transversely-mounted in-line engine has two overhead camshafts, which control by rocker arms per cylinder, two intake and two exhaust valves. The engine is based on the design of the Honda Fireblade has, however, one of 71 mm increased to 77 mm cylinder bore. The four pistons have a stroke of 53.6 mm. The compression ratio is 10.5:1. The Pressure lubrication has a wet sump. The bike accelerates in 3.9 seconds from 0 to 100 km / h and reaches a top speed of 260 km / h

Power transmission

The primary mechanism via a helical gears. The force of separation is made possible by a hydraulically actuated wet multi-plate clutch, torque conversion by a Constant mesh six speed gearbox. The secondary drive is via an O-ring chain.

Fuel supply

Four 38 -mm CV carburetors provide for the mixture formation of the four- stroke engine. Ignition takes place each cylinder by a computer-controlled digital transistorised with electronic advance. The average fuel consumption is 6.8 liters per 100 km at a speed of 130 km / h The fuel tank has a volume of 23 liters, of which 3.5 liters reserve, and allows a maximum range of 288 km. The manufacturer recommends the use of motor gasoline with an antiknock properties of at least 95 octane.

Landing gear

The chassis is based on a bridge frame of steel and has a rear rectangular tube steel. The ProLink monoshock has a lever system with gas pressure shock absorbers and 115 mm of travel. The front wheel is out of a telescopic fork with 41 mm diameter and 130 mm of travel. The cartridge fork has a pneumatic chamber to dampen road vibration. On the front tire a delayed double disc brake with 296 mm diameter and a rear wheel brake 256 mm. Both brakes have calipers from Nissin with three opposing pistons. A Dual Combined Brake System ( DCBS ) called combined braking system supports the injection of both brakes. An anti -lock braking system was not offered for the vehicle. The tires on 17-inch three-spoke cast aluminum wheels front has the dimensions 120/70-17 and rear 170/60-17. The bike comes standard with main and side stand.

Model history

The bike was presented in 1986, the provisional renunciation of the world leader on the concept of vierzylinderischen V- engine. During the construction period from 1987 to 1999 the bike has been revised three times extensive. In 1989, the motorcycle some cosmetic changes with a complete revision of the front panel, improvements to the front suspension and larger tires. A modified timing chain tensioner reduced the rattle of the timing chain. The output has been increased slightly to 101 kW ( 135 hp ) and the vehicle weight increased. 1992, the panel has been revised and streamlined design and a combined braking system called Dual Combined Brake System ( DCBS ) first introduced by Honda. 1999 was the last CBR 1000F in Japan from the tape. A direct successor with a similar vehicle characteristics were not from Honda.

Reviews

" The CBR 1000 F, a trendsetter of yore, is hardly noticeable yet, full fairing is long in athletes and tourers standard. Officially it is offered with 98 hp, but the dealer can they throttle pushing on nominally 130 hp, making them well is also compared to the current competition in the feed. And can be especially quick and easy access still is - a genuine recommendation to sportive tourists with a sense of relaxed travel. "

" The CBR hiding her fat cylinder block and all the innards completely under a plastic dress - what a pity. Those looking for a long-distance -grade, low-cost Big Bike, is right with the Honda. "

" The CBR1000F was one of the first motorcycles in the modern era, which had a full fairing. Evil tongues blasphemed, see it from hence as a mobile bathroom equipment. But despite their funny appearance ( which was later modified ) remained the CBR1000F Honda's flagship and the company's fastest motorcycle - until the introduction of the Fireblade in 1992 ".
