Horlivka

Horlivka (Ukrainian Горлівка; Russian Горловка / Gorlowka ) is situated on the river Luhan a city in the Donetsk Oblast in eastern Ukraine, 47 km to the north of Donetsk. Horlivka has 257 052 ​​inhabitants ( 2013).

History

Horlivka was founded in 1779 and renamed in 1868 in honor of the Russian geologists Petro Gorlov in Horlivka. During his work for the coal industry in the area of the place grew into a working class neighborhood, since 1932 Trams are Horlivka in the city.
