Léon Scieur

Léon Scieur ( born March 19, 1888 in Florennes, † October 7, 1969 ) was a Belgian racing cyclist.

Career

Scieur began his pro career in 1913, at the Tour de Belgique he won the seventh stage and overall occupy the fourth place. The following year he was fifth in the Belgienrundfahrt and Fourteenth in the Tour de France. Because of the First World War, he was able to continue his career until 1919.

In 1919 he finished fourth in the Tour de France, where he finished second four times and third in individual stages once. In 1920, Scieur the spring classic Liege -Bastogne- Liege. At the Tour de France he won the eleventh stage, was in two stages and finished third in the overall standings as the year before the fourth.

In the spring of 1921 Scieur took third place in the race Paris -Roubaix. His biggest success Scieur by winning the Tour de France in 1921. He already took over on the second stage the lead in the overall standings and defended it to the finish in Paris. On this tour, he was also able to decide for two stages, he finished second four times and third twice.
